I want to utilize this post as a time to share the purpose behind this site and what I hope to get out of sharing my story, spiritual journey, etc.
The idea of this site came to me quite some time ago but the execution of it has sat stagnant since the summer of 2019. I rolled out a few posts that I had written many years ago but haven't written anything since. There is a reason for this that I'd like to explain before I go much further. When I created this site, I imagined that my first post would be one that explains why I've named the site Aiden James. Those of you who know me personally already know that this name first belonged to my son, who we lost in January 2018. I fully intend to share our story and struggles; having gone through such a devastating loss, I know there are many out there that can relate to such pain and grief. However, I've struggled with putting pen to paper when it comes to explaining our story. There is just so much to share that I really don't know where to start just yet. Therefore, I'd like to take baby steps and first post about what I hope to get out of this blog.
First, I view this blog as an opportunity for a creative outlet and record of my spiritual journey. While I am hopeful for some sort of a readership, I'd prefer to base the success of this blog on the way that it makes me feel to share my experiences and, more importantly, on the chance to increase and further explore spiritual intimacy with the Lord.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
- James 1:2-5.
Second, I hope this blog to be a spiritual act of worship. Worship is a vast term that can refer to a number of ways to bring praise and thanksgiving to God. I feel like I best express myself through writing and I love being able to talk about the ways I see God working in my life and the lives around me. As well, these posts will act as a gentle reminder of all the amazing promises that God has shown me over the years. It is a spiritual high to be able to look back on specific instances that I've felt God speaking to me.
Lastly, I find the internet and social media to be flooded with influential words and advertisements that often distract me from my purpose and God's will for my life. I promise to be as genuine and as transparent as I can with the things that I go through. I hope to be an encouragement to those that need spiritual refreshment and the occasional real-life insight from just another ordinary person living an extraordinary life as a follower of Christ. This blog isn't about masquerading an imperfect life to be anything other than it is, imperfect and always persevering.
All of that being said, while my posts may be sporadic, I hope that God may use these words to speak whatever it is that he needs you to hear.
God bless,
